The Koudinov II, New High Bar Release Rated Most Difficult in Code

Misha Koudinov has second skill named after him on high bar, a piked Gaylord with a full twist.

Misha Koudinov of Team New Zealand has become the first gymnast to successfully compete this new skill. The skill has been given an "I" difficulty value (0.9) in the Code of Points and named the Koudinov II (since Koudinov already has another high bar skill in the code.) He first competed the skill at the 2026 Oceania Championships, held May 9 in Brisbane, Australia.

The Koudinov II is one of only two skills on high bar rated an "I" (0.9); the other is the Miyachi, a double-twisting laid-out Kovacs. Although some events feature even more difficult "J" rated skills, on high bar, the Miyachi and Koudinov II currently share the distinction of being the hardest.

His first skill, the Koudinov I, is a tucked variation of this new skill and is rated "H" (0.8) in the current Code of Points. Reflecting on the achievement, Koudinov wrote on social media:

"...when the Koudinov [I] was officially entered into the men's gymnastics rulebook, I never dreamed at that moment that a stretched/piked version was possible."

The skill's official entry into the Code of Points was announced in the World Gymnastics Newsletter – N° 04 – July 2026. Following the announcement, Koudinov wrote:

"Thank you for believing in me during what was perhaps the greatest challenge of my life."

Koudinov has documented his training journey on video, showing his progression from first attempting the skill over a foam pit to ultimately performing it at the Oceania Championships.

Koudinov is a self-funded athlete. Fans looking to support his journey to international competition can do so through his Patreon at patreon.com/mishakoudinov.
