The Alvarez, new parallel bars skill

Chilean gymnast Joaquín Alvarez competed a new parallel bars dismount at the 2024 Cairo World Cup.

The dismount is a double layout performed from the end of the bars. The skill has been assigned an "E" value in the Code of Points.

After the competition, Chilean Coach Christian Bruno Decidet wrote:

We have created a new element and at the same time we go down in gymnastics history. The last name ALVAREZ will be forever in the code and when a gymnast wants to perform a double extended dismount on parallel bars he will know that a Chilean with that last name was the first to do it!"

According to the Men’s Code of Points, a skill can be named after a gymnast if it debuts at an official FIG competition, has a difficulty rating of "C" or higher, and is executed without a fall. By meeting all these criteria, Alvarez's new skill has earned a spot in the code of points.
